Welcome!

The Rock Creek Chamber Players are an open-ended group of musicians whose main
joint activity is a free public concert series held mainly at Christ Evangelical Lutheran
Church in Bethesda, Maryland.  From 1993 to 2001 the concerts usually were held in the
Clinical Center of the National Institutes of Health, also in Bethesda.  Since June 1993
the Players' series concerts ordinarily have happened in ten months of each year, with
time out usually in one summer month and in December.

Ordinarily each section of a Rock Creek Chamber Players program will call for a different
combination of instruments and/or voices.

For the seventeenth- to twentieth-century works which formed the repertoire heard in
our 2009-2010 season, solo or chamber performing forces ranged from one to eight
musicians.  Along with conventional chamber groups (string quartet, piano trio, trio
sonata) and household-name composers (the three B's, Mozart, Chopin), odd
combinations (clarinet and bassoon; flute, 'cello, and piano; three clarinets and bass
clarinet) and less familiar composers (Eler, Bozza, Crusell)  frequently were programmed.

Usually performers have been recruited afresh for each section of a program.  Thus, even
when different works on a single program happen to call for the same voice or
instrument, the performer may change from work to work.  During the 2009-2010 season
two solo singers and seventy solo or ensemble (or both) instrumentalists were heard;
the instrumentalists included  eighteen violinists, sixteen pianists, fifteen 'cellists, six
clarinetists, and three flutists.  Six guest ensembles contributed their talents to  the
Players' 2009-2010 concerts. Performers ranged in age from nine to circa ninety.  Some
participants were heard in many or most of these concerts; others made only a single
solo or ensemble appearance.

The Rock Creek Chamber Players work without an artistic director.  Further information on
